(note the first two buttons are duplicates of those directly accessible from the Tab palette. They are duplicated here in case selection of Setup is from the ProTabs main menu item under Utilities.)
1. Recall. Lists all previously saved setups and upon selection sets the current table setup to those values.
2. Save. Allows the saving of current setup values for use in other similar tables.
3. Set Auto Box. Allows for setting certain anchored box parameters for columns that have Auto Box selected. (See Auto Box under lower Setup Area and Set Auto Box dialog.
4. Set Auto Vert. Allows setting certain vertical rule parameters for columns that have Auto Vert selected. (See Auto Vert under lower Setup Area and Set Auto Vert dialog .
5. Set Auto Horiz. Allows setting certain Horizontal rule parameters for columns that have Auto Horiz selected. (See Auto Horiz under lower Setup Area and Set Auto Horiz dialog.
6. Lock Rules. Checking this selection locks all rules generated. They can be individually unlocked using the Quark menu Item. If this selection is unchecked after having been checked and a table balanced, then the table must be rebalanced to unlock the rules. Note all rule generated are standard Quark lines.
7. Auto Rules MasterLock. Checking this selection prevents the generation of any new rules. This is useful when it is desired to complete a table first and choose the ruling later.
8. # Columns. Enter desired number of columns – be sure to include any outside columns used for centering. (See Example 2)
9. Cancel Button. All changes including sub dialog entries are canceled.
10. OK Button. Changes are accepted and computed values are reset.
11. Label. Used as a unique identifier for current Box. See ProTags for use of this label.
Lower Area
1. Column # Indicates column or gutter currently displayed. This is selected by using the + and - buttons adjacent to the column indicator.
2. Set Rem Resets. This button provides a convenient way of checking the remaining column Reset Column
3. Copy Rem Cols. This button copies the setting of the current column to the remaining columns in the table.
4. Column Radio Buttons (Fixed/Variable)—Allows individual columns to be fixed or computer selected. (See item 8)
5. Gutter Radio Buttons (Fixed/Variable)—Allows individual gutters to be fixed or variable. (see item 9).
6. Auto Vert. Checking this selection will cause a vertical rule to be drawn in a position chosen by the Set Auto Vert button. (See Auto Vert Dialog page 2-19)
7. Auto Box. Checking this item will either cause an anchored box to be generated around the data in the current column and optionally straddling this data over multiple columns or it will straddle text over several columns.(see Auto Tables) This allows for a mixing of columnar type data along with traditional single line data entry. This feature may be used with fixed or variable columns as the setting of columnar data is processed after the table is composed. (See Auto Box Dialog)
8. Auto Horiz. Checking this item will cause a horizontal rule to be drawn in a position chosen by the Set Auto Horiz button. (See Auto Horiz Dialog )
9. Lock Text Check Box.—Allows highlighted columns to have preset Text attributes. When entering this column from a prior column the text style attributes will be from the the default set for this column. This default can be changed for successive rows by changing any of the attributes prior to typing any data in the column.
10. Include Heads Check Box.— When head text widths are greater than the column entries and HC or HL are used, head text will be equally spaced, resulting in unequally spaced column entries. The default, (unchecked) ignores widths of box head entries marked with HC or HL in calculating column widths, resulting in equally spaced column entries.
11. Reset Column Check Box.— Checking this item forces all highlighted rows to be reset to values entered in the setup. This is accomplished by pressing the Balance button in group three after exiting the Setup menu
12. Alignment Radio Buttons.— Each column may be aligned left, center, right, decimal or on the first instance of a character.
13. Fill Characters — Specifies a character to be repeated in the area between the point where the tab key is pressed and the next tab. A period used as the fill character is also known as a dot leader.
14. Gutter Entry. —This entry is dependent upon the selection made in item 3. If the gutter was set to fixed, then the entry should be in fixed units (inches, pica etc.). If the width of the gutter is to be generated by the computer, then the input should be a proportional variable (proportional to the sum of the gutter variables). This proportional amount will determine this gutters share of the excess width of the tab job.
15. Column Entry. —This entry is dependent upon the selection made in item 2. If the column was set to fixed, then the entry should be in fixed units (inches, pica etc.). If the width of the column is to be generated by the computer, then the input should be a proportional value ( proportional to the sum of the column variables). This proportional amount will determine this column's share of the excess width of the tab job.
16. Balanced Gutter.— This entry is automatically computed when the table is balanced
17. Balanced Column. — This entry is automatically computed when the table is balanced
